Stern announced early into his show this past Thursday that he's signed a new 5 year contract with Sirius XM Satellite Radio. The new deal will lock up Stern on the satellite radio provider until 2015. By the time this new deal is done, Stern will be 62 years old. He'll still be on a 4-day a week schedule with "Best of the Week" shows airing on Fridays. It was widely reported that one of the provisions Stern wanted in a new deal included that he'd only work 3 days a week as opposed to 4. He even contemplated not even going to Times Square (where the Sirius XM studios are located) to do his show. It is expected that Robin, Fred, etc. will also be resigned since what's the Howard Stern Show without "BaBaBooey" references and constant jokes about Quivers' boobies. Stern apparently was milking this given what he said Wednesday. He tried to play his listeners into the idea that he wasn't sure about which way the negotiations would play out. Then 24 hours later...he signs a new 5 year deal!! I wasn't expecting an announcement until next week. I wake up the next day to turn on CNN and it says on their "Bottom Line News Ticker" that Howard had signed a new 5 year contract. Come again! Didn't this guy just say that he wasn't sure about a new deal 24 hours ago. Apparently something must've happened that he wasn't ...
